In a similar fashion, right now, wars in the Middle East and north Africa like the ongoing disasters in Libya and Syria that once got significant coverage now barely get a mention much of the time.<\/p>\n<p>In the years to come, the same thing could happen to the coronavirus.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/california\/story\/2020-08-09\/covid-19-coronavirus-survival-rate-improves\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Los Angeles Times<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>When the number of people being sent to the hospital with COVID-19 began to creep up in Los Angeles County early this summer, officials warned that a\u00a0major increase in deaths was inevitable. A record-breaking number of cases could result in a record-breaking number of deaths, they predicted.<\/p>\n<p>But nearly two months later, that has not materialized. The coronavirus continues to kill hundreds of people every week in L.A. County, but the death toll has remained lower than expected.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve acquired a tremendous amount of information in the last seven months that has been helpful.
