In his first sit-down interview since the election, President-elect\u00a0Joe Biden\u00a0declared his presidency would not be \u201ca third Obama term\u201d and promised to represent the full spectrum of the country and the Democratic party.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not a third Obama term. We face a totally different world than we faced in the Obama-Biden administration,\u201d Biden answered. \u201cPresident Trump has changed the landscape.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2026<\/p>\n

Biden expressed his wish to pursue a \u201cprogressive\u201d agenda. Asked if he\u2019d consulted with progressive senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders on cabinet appointments, the president-elect said \u201cthere\u2019s nothing really off the table\u201d when it comes to who he\u2019ll tap to join his administration. But, he said, \u201ctaking someone out of the Senate, taking someone out of the House \u2026 is a really difficult decision that will have to be made\u201d.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, Biden will deliver a Thanksgiving address, from Wilmington, Delaware, and will \u201cdiscuss the shared sacrifices Americans are making this holiday season and say that we can and will get through the current crisis together\u201d, according to the transition team.<\/p>\n

\u2026<\/p>\n

Biden outlined during a Wilmington press conference his vision for a country \u201cready to lead the world, not retreat from it\u201d.<\/p>\n

He told Holt that he was pleased to have spoken to \u201cover 20 world leaders\u201d, and said, \u201cthey are really excited\u201d.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This is all in keeping with Johanna Roth’s point<\/a> a week ago: Biden continues to sound like someone running for president. There will be important decisions to be made, which will be made sometime in the future. He is bold, brash,\u00a0 proclaiming that in addition to not being Trump, he is also not Obama. Why is he not Obama? Because of Trump.<\/p>\n

Has Biden spoken to Bernie Sanders about Sanders being Secretary of Labor? Well, theoretically \u2013 there’s nothing really off the table, but then taking Sanders out of the Senate is a really difficult decision. A decision that will have to be made.<\/p>\n
