\nBoris Johnson has compared Vladimir Putin to a drug dealer who managed to hook western nations on Russian supplies of oil and gas, ahead of a trip to the Middle East in an attempt to diversify the sources of Britain\u2019s energy imports.<\/p>\n

The UK prime minister urged European countries to \u201cget ourselves off that addiction\u201d and said he wanted support from \u201cthe widest possible coalition\u201d to help offset the pressures caused by spiralling oil and gas prices.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The prime minister added that\u00a0Russia’s „brutal“ and „indiscriminate“ bombing of\u00a0Ukraine\u00a0is „quite unbelievable“ as he vowed the president will not succeed in his aim.<\/p>\n

\u201cVladimir Putin over the last years has been like a pusher, feeding an addiction in western countries to his hydrocarbons,\u201d Mr Johnson on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
