Kenobi and Vader are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/movie-sounds.org\/disney-movie-sound-clips\/quotes-with-sound-clips-from-the-incredibles\/he-starts-monologuing-he-starts-this-prepared-speech-about-how-feeble-i-am-compared-to-him\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">monologuing<\/a>\u00a0over the crackle of their clashing weapons when Kenobi declares, \u201cIf you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.\u201d Then, in an act of self-sacrifice he hopes will hasten the destruction of the evil Empire, Kenobi allows Vader to do just that.<\/p>\n<p>A version of this battle is playing out in real life with Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) as Kenobi and former president Donald Trump as Vader. Now, I realize that Cheney\u2019s father, former vice president Dick Cheney, has traditionally been\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/id\/wbna21575478\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">known<\/a>\u00a0as Darth Vader, what with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/dick-cheney-iraq-apologies_n_55e6ea95e4b0b7a9633adabb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Iraq War<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/12\/15\/us\/politics\/cheney-senate-report-on-torture.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share%20https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/12\/15\/us\/politics\/cheney-senate-report-on-torture.html?referringSource=articleShare\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cenhanced interrogation\u201d techniques<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/politics\/archive\/2011\/08\/remembering-why-americans-loathe-dick-cheney\/244306\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">all that<\/a>.
